Plain Text or HTML
0I am often reviewing messages that just make me want to scream! In the world of email marketing, there are two basic types of messages: plain text and HTML.
As you can see, a plain text message is boring and “spammy” looking and needless to say, I am not a fan of these messages. The only time these types of messages are acceptable is when your Grandma is sending you her prized bundt cake recipe from her newly created email account you help setup for her.
On the other hand, if you are trying to run a successful email campaign to promote your business, you will want to look at using the more popular message type: HTML.
Now, doesn’t this look a lot better? It grabs your attention, right! Not only is it visually appealing, it also becomes a continuation of your brand. Your customer saw what a great job you (or your designer) did on your website, carry that great work through into your email marketing.
I’ll leave you with this thought – How many emails do you get in a day? How much time do you spend reading an email? If you’re anything like me, the answers to those questions are complete polar opposites. When it comes to creating your next email message, remember that your customers get a lot of emails and spend very little time reading them, if at all. Create your messages that are quick to read and to the point with a very clear call to action.
Happy Sending!
